“Shuuut up!” TOWIE cast support My View of London

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

The glamourous cast of The Only Way is Essex have given their support by sharing their favourite views of London with us. Whilst Jessica and Harry love taking in the beautiful sights over the Thames at night, for Sam the O2 brings back lots of memories:

Harry Derbridge Jessica Wright Sam Faiers

Harry

“My favourite view of London is across the Thames at night. Big Ben and the London Eye look amazing when lit and I love walking down by the river and looking at all the sights”

Jessica

“The view down the River Thames from Tower Bridge. You can see the London Eye, the Oxo Tower and Big Ben to one side and the Gherkin and Canary Wharf to the other side. It’s especially beautiful driving over it on a summer’s night”

Sam

“My favourite view in London is the O2. I remember all the hype when the Millennium Dome opened, I go to so many concerts and events at the O2 and it’s great to see the Dome being used into the future”

To see the favourite views our other celeb supporters go to our inspiration gallery.

Tips from the professionals

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Photographers and judges Nic Barlow and Barbara Chandler share their favourite views of London… and their tips on how to take a good picture:

Barbara Chandler

Barbara Chandler “Go out on your own to take photographs whenever you can – friends and family, however devoted, get fed up with hanging around. You either loose a shot…or have a row. And always keep an open photographic mind. You may be out looking for something in particular – but something else may come up on the inside – and you don’t want to miss it.”

Nic Barlow

“Consider photographing from a high point – it puts the subject in the context of its locality with a third dimension. Good to look at the subject from a different viewpoint.” Nic Barlow

Daniel Lezano

“This is St Paul’s Cathedral, captured on my Apple iPhone 4 on a beautiful spring afternoon earlier this year. I grew up living only five minutes away from this magnificent building, which is why I decided to make this my view of London.”

My favourite view: Serge Betsen

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

French rugby great, Serge Betsen, loves the peaceful view of Temperate House in Kew Gardens:

“When I moved to London three years ago, I was amazed to see how many parks there are in this big city.  You can stroll in the park with your friends and family just as you would in the countryside. As I live in Ealing, I came across Kew Gardens very early on and I love it! My favourite view of London is the Temperate House, the largest surviving Victorian glasshouse in the world.  So many plants live there, with many endangered species being protected in this beautiful building.”

London from above – my view from the Goodyear Blimp airship

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Goodyear Blimp official photographer, Philip Riley, captured the view from a special evening flight over London.

“The glorious sunset made for a very memorable flight. The city looked breathtaking in the setting sun and I grabbed this shot as we were leaving along the river past City Airport – so many iconic London buildings, from the O2 in the foreground, to Canary Wharf, back to the Gherkin and St Paul’s and even the BT tower in the distance.”
